We firmly believe and live the need for life outside the lab, aim for the most diverse possible set of backgrounds and expertise, and work with other research groups to make the most impactful discoveries.
There is no such thing as individual projects in our group. We make sure everyone is always up to speed on all projects, as that is the best way to ensure team members can help and support each other. All of our publications involve multiple team members for the simple reason that we like to combine expertise, rather than replicate it.
PRIORITISING LIFE/WORK BALANCE
We are passionate about our science - but that does not mean that we cannot be passionate about other things. We do not have any preconceived notions about how much time in the lab is required, but we do know that it is important to be able to switch off and have the time to pursue other interests.
We are committed to the inclusion of students and post-doctoral scholars from all different backgrounds, regardless of race, colour, religion, national origin, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, or disability. We strive to offer all of our members an inclusive, secure, and welcoming environment that is built on mutual respect and trust.
Promoting the mental & physical wellness of all team members is of the utmost importance. We strive to foster a community environment conducive to open discussions about issues of mental health and overall wellbeing.
We collaborate, collaborate, collaborate. Why? Because we firmly believe that it makes science more fun, we learn more, and we can achieve more in a shorter amount of time. That is not to say that collaborations don't need work, but we feel that we and our collaborators get much much more in return. And we try to make it super-easy to come and work with us through our MP facility. as part of Instruct.
